Spring Couture Favorite: Valentino

Of all the Spring 2012 Couture shows that took place in Paris the Valentino collection had to be the Matchbook’s favorite. The dresses looked as though they had just appeared in Marie Antoinette’s Petit Trianon gardens. Everything felt light, soft and whimsical with a palette of whites, pastels and devastatingly pretty floral prints used throughout. In true Valentino fashion bows and lace were used with abandon (a feminine touch Matchbook fully supports). We especially adored the use of the flat slipper rather than high heels which added an element of casual elegance to the collection. Now if only we could transport ourselves to France and stroll the gardens of Versailles in these exquisite gowns and slippers! The Matchbook girl…is a Francophile at heart!

  1. My friends and I were watching an old period film last night, set during the Romantic era – the film was terrible but the costumes were gorgeous – and these outfits and trends for the coming Spring make me think of the wonderful English Romantics. Just lovely.
