The inaugural post of yet another new Daily Spark series! In “On Her Shelf” we’ll gather book recommendations from tastemakers we admire. First up? The lovely Blair of Atlantic-Pacific. She’s got style in spades and great taste in books too!

ON MY NIGHTSTAND… I’m currently re-reading The Glass Castle

ON MY COFFEE TABLE… The Trench Book (this chic Assouline title is an ode to one of my favorite fashion classics!)

ON MY SHELF… The Catcher in the Rye is an old favorite!

Thanks for sharing, Blair! Stay tuned for more book recs from Matchbook girls you admire ;)

The Daily Fancy

The Matchbook girl loves a vintage modern mix! When it comes to furnishings one really can’t go wrong with an iconic Eames chair. This morning we’re hankering after these sleek and colorful side chairs from Room & Board. Can’t you see them gathered around a rustic farm table at dinner hour or perhaps one at your desk with a sheepskin throw? Don’t even get us started on the color palette — acqua sky, lime green, sparrow — how’s a girl to choose?

We’re a wee bit obsessed with these dainty matchstick brooches by St. Kilda. Surely a Matchbook girl must-have! Blue, green, yellow, pink — which color would you choose?

Of all the Spring 2012 Couture shows that took place in Paris the Valentino collection had to be the Matchbook’s favorite. The dresses looked as though they had just appeared in Marie Antoinette’s Petit Trianon gardens. Everything felt light, soft and whimsical with a palette of whites, pastels and devastatingly pretty floral prints used throughout. In true Valentino fashion bows and lace were used with abandon (a feminine touch Matchbook fully supports). We especially adored the use of the flat slipper rather than high heels which added an element of casual elegance to the collection. Now if only we could transport ourselves to France and stroll the gardens of Versailles in these exquisite gowns and slippers! The Matchbook girl…is a Francophile at heart!

The Matchbook girl rarely says no to a polka dot, and this Sonia Rykiel number is pure perfection. If the cream and black polka dots and playful pussy-bow aren’t enough, The Outnet now has it marked at an enticing 60% off. So Matchbook girls, if it’s still available in your size consider this your lucky week :)

Skip in our Step

Things have been extra cozy in the Matchbook offices now that Katie and Jane are sporting their new Jacques Levine slippers. We’re particularly smitten with the Inslee above (don’t you just die for the leopard?). Satin and shearling perfection!

Color Palette

The Matchbook girl is all about mixing – high and low, nude and neon. What better way to sport the season’s brightest hues than paired with a lovely neutral backdrop. As they say, variety is the spice of life :)

This morning we’re swooning over this pink enamel elephant ring. Leave it to Kenneth Jay Lane – this cocktail ring would make a statement on any occasion. Jazz up a trip to the grocery store or add it for a touch of pizazz with your favorite LBD. Either way, it’s sure to receive plenty of compliments.
